The room automation system is a smart solution to remotely control electronic appliances installed and functioning through a smartphone using network protocols.
ABOUT THE CLIENT
Conserving electricity and power is of prime importance in managing costs within the hotel industry. The industry by and large is constantly looking at ways to manage and control electrical appliances. Hoteliers are looking for innovative ideas such as controlling all appliances using Smartphones from a remote location.
For instance, the mobile app should switch on/off the electrical appliances, speed control, and various another task that needs to do manually.
The client company wanted us to execute their idea/concept of a room automation system using the Internet of Things (IoT). The motive in mind – is to control and automate room electronic appliances from a mobile app with the intention of energy consumption and remote control.
A system needed to be designed through which users can control the electronic appliances from a remote location using mobile phones by sending instructions to the hardware device (attached to electrical appliances) and save on electricity consumption and manual human efforts.
The rapid increase in the number of users of the internet over the past decade and day-by-day improvement in the Internet of Things (IoT) technology has made this as a practical and viable solution.
Our Software development team came up with a software module (mobile application interface) to enable devices/appliances to interface and interact via networking protocols.
We at Emorphis developed a system that consists of a mobile application interface as the front-end and hardware attached to appliances to receive commands as the back-end. The mobile application controls these appliances remotely. Our engineers developed universal smart hardware to control the electrical load with the capability of communicating with mobile applications using multiple communication protocols.
Through a unique IP address within the network, each device/appliance can interact actively with the surrounding area. When the connection between the mobile application, and the device is established the user can give commands to the device and automate/control them from remote/local locations.
IoT PERSPECTIVE – HOME AUTOMATION SYSTEM
Wi-Fi-based switching circuit to switch On/Off Electrical Loads and Mobile application to control operation.
Scope of Work:
The scope of work includes designing, testing, and validating of a switch circuit board that will have Wi-Fi communication capability, and can be used to switch the electrical equipment On/Off. A mobile application will be developed for controlling these devices.
